We have a strong culture of Chess here in our school. For the last number of years we have been playing chess and taking part in the Lá Féile Fichille and Comórtas Fichille that are organised by Ficheall.ie. Chess has brought great fun, friendship and enjoyment to our school.

Integrating the game with the SPHE curriculum has seen our children learning essential life skills such as patience, teamwork and decision making while also developing strategic thinking and problem solving skills that are a central part of the maths curriculum. 

This year, children from 3rd to 6th class took part in the Lá Féile Fichille in O'Loughlin Gaels along with other schools from around Kilkenny. We had a brilliant day and are looking forward to being involved again next year.
